Love started with a phone call

A month or so ago I told you Karen Valentine from My Desert cottage was hosting a "Share your love story" page on Valentines day...Here is my story...
I met John was I was 16 years old. I am 38 now.(yes I TELL my age) John was 18. This was August 1989. I had a friend named Crystal ( see my earlier post about my friend passing away with breast caner..that was her) who worked at a place called What A Burger. Basically a fast food place. She really like this guy who works the graveyard shift there. We tried for 2 or 3 days to call in the middle of the night to the place to get him to answer the phone so she could tell him she liked him. BUT my hubby kept answering the phone. We would say silly things like "Surfs up dude" and hang up on him. YES WE WERE TOTALLY 80's kids. Finally one call my hubby answered and I said something silly and he said why dont you just talk to me..so I did. I found out alot about him. I really wanted to meet him. My friend knew who he was. She told me about him and best of all he has a car! What no way!!! BONUS! We could go crusing in his car on Saturday nights with all the other teens and young adults! We took a cab to his work and there he was. 5 foot 8 skinny as a rail 18 year old cutie with a 68 mustang car! I was in heaven. About a week later we decided to go on our official date. John met my Grandma, cause she wouldnt let me go on a date unless she met the boy, and we went to a park. Mind you it was about 7pm at night in August. John worked the graveyard shift..we BOTH ended up falling alseep in his car. I remember it was raining and the people in the car next to us were making out. I was so awkward. LOL I was suppose to be home by 9pm and it was 930pm! OH NO..I was in big trouble. Funny it was the first time in my life that I didnt get grounded for something. :)
John and I dated for a few months and then in April 1990 I found out I was preggos with our oldest son Damian. I freaked out! My grandparents were gonna kill me LOL. John got us an apartment and I moved out 2 months before our oldest son Damian was born.
John and I decided to get married in April of 1993. We had our second son in July of 1994.
(seems we do things a little backwards) :}

This Valentines day is all about my LOVE story to John. I could write stories for days on here about how wonderful he is. But yall might get bored LOL...these are a few of my favorite things about John that stick out in my mind....

John is a wonderful hubby. John is this kind of hubby:
1.will watch a chick flick and cry right along  with you
2.will go to Joanns and help me pick out fabric for something he knows nothing about
3. does all the cooking and is so good at it
4.does ALOT of cleaning around the house..yes even dishes and bathrooms YUCK!
5.  learned very quickly how to change diapers and feed the kids bottles
6.When I run out of feminine products he knows just what to go get
7. He listens to me complain about everything!
8.He never forgets our anniversay, mothers day, or my birthday
9.when my grandma passed away he held me while i cried for weeks
10.He puts up with MY family all the time..thats a big job
11. He talks to our kids with such understanding
12.He loves all animals and we have had our share

John is really my BEST FRIEND! I know as women with great men we say that..but I really mean it! John knows all my dark secrets..and I trust him with my life. He is the understanding, loving, funny, huggable, man that I wanted since I was a little girl.

Lastly...John LOVES me for me. Never tries to change me...takes me with all my imperfections! I am so Thankful to God that he put aside such a special man that He KNEW I needed. This year in August, John and I will be together 22 years...I never thought in my wildest dreams someone could LOVE me that long.
