Want to go on a Journey with me?

I know the Lord has been pressing this hard on my heart.
I am now going to stop ignoring and obey.

I thought about doing it privately. Just like the many many times before.
*sigh*

I believe there are others like me. Tired, no energy, hard time breathing, thyroid issues, heart palpitations, digestive problems, aches in the knees and hips and back and head, allergies, tight clothes, running out of sizes, confused about GMO's, gluten, flour, wheat, rice, almond milk, diet, hating the scale, elevated blood pressure, Did I say NO ENERGY?

That is you? Oh good I am not alone. Whew, the Lord said I wasn't.

I have been obese for many years. Yes OBESE. That is what my medical chart says. In November our work did their annual "health" screenings. Always free of charge and is suppose to encourage you to get healthy.

Mine came back with not so good results and honestly I was not surprised. The Lord has been bugging me about this for  a while...remember.

SO
What is a girl to do who is now 41 years old, day job where I sit all day, and weighs 338lbs?

Get healthy that is what!!!

Let me tell you what I am NOT doing:
dieting
going cold turkey on unhealthy foods
tossing everything " bad" out of my house
start walking 5 miles every night
drink only water all day
keep a 1000 a day calorie intake

These are all setups for failure. I know I have done them all.

Let me tell you what I AM doing:
increase my water intake and choose soda pop less
modify things I love to eat with healthier versions, but still enjoy a treat
Walking in the evenings before summer gets here
DONT focus on calories. Focus on less carbs and more protein
Obey my Lord and lean on Him every step of the way

I am going to be honest I dont know HOW to loose weight. But I know HOW to pray.
I BELIEVE this victory was already won for me at Calvary.
I just have to accept, follow, my Lord.

I don' own a scale. I do have a gym memebership there is one there.  I don't plan on weighing myself unless I feel the need to. My clothes can speak clearly to me.

So here I am...

Yep. Actually I have lost 5 lbs, per my doctor, since Christmas. :)
I did take my measurements. Yep it was painful.

It is my desire in life to live for Jesus.
I seen this statement on fb the other day.
It is from Elisabeth Elliot at Peak313fitness
"We can not give our hearts to God and keep our bodies for ourselves"

This sure hit home with me.

So, anyone else want to join me? Encourage each other? I have a wonderful support system at home, I do know that not everyone does. I am here for you. Maybe you don't need to loose weight, but you want to get healthier, or maybe you could be a blessing to someone else.

I will have giveaways along the way. I am so excited to share them with you!!!

Stay tuned!!

  4. Ill be praying for you on your journey. I think you are wise with your plan, nothing unreasonable at all just being more conscientious. I have been trying to be more conscientious as well and I have to say I feel so much better about myself when I know that I made a better choice than I could have and it makes me want to do that more often.

  5. How inspiring! I know the journey. It's a hard one to take on. I face my own health issues. When I was first diagnosed I was motivated and started making the small changes you talk about. I believe that's the way to do it. I was doing well then reached a plateau, not reaching my goal, then over the holidays gained too much back. So now I'm struggling and I mean struggling to get back to those habits again. Thank you for reminding me I'm not alone. With the Lord's help, I KNOW it's possible...for all of us!!

  7. Good for you! I was nodding my head in agreement as I read your post. I am on a journey like this myself. The Lord has convicted me on so many levels. I have spent the past year/year and a half finding what works for me health/food wise. The biggest difference I've felt is that I'm not tired all the time anymore. I also have PCOS so I am trying to keep soy out of my body as much as possible to help me balance my hormones.

I've read so many real food blogs and websites, and they have helped me tremendously. I'd still be eating fake "healthy" food right now without them. At the same time I've also learned that not any one person is "right" when it comes to health advice, because God made each of us different! What works for "Peggy" may not work for *me*.

I DO think small steps is for everyone though. I don't count calories, I don't diet, I don't ban sweets, but I do choose better. And a lot of the foods I used to eat actually gross me out now! So that helps LOL. I haven't lost a lot of weight yet, but life right now is crazy and stressful, an unfortunate hurdle for the time being. If you ever want to chat, please feel free to email me. :)

But if I can do it so can you.
